One of my FAVORITE things about living in Elk Grove is the parks. As the mom of two littles myself, I know the necessity of having good parks near by.
When my family and I moved to Elk Grove I hadn’t realized just how blessed we were. Elk Grove has over 100 parks. My home alone is within short walking distance to two playgrounds! We are pretty dang lucky if you ask me.
This list is a compilation of some of the best parks/playgrounds here in Elk Grove.
Elk Grove Regional Park
First and foremost is Elk Grove Park. I mean, come on, it literally has the city’s name in it. This park is situated a beautiful lake. The kids love coming here to feed the ducks. The park also offers great areas for picnics, volleyball, fishing, and bike & dog parks. If you are looking for a large community event, such as the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival, this is where you’ll find it. It’s no surprise why this park tops our list.
Oasis Park
A fan favorite of local Elk Grove Parents is Oasis Park. This park is fairly new and comes with all the upgrades. Oasis has two playgrounds (one for littles and one for llder kids), a splash pad, covered seating, a sand box with water features, restrooms, and a dog park. The splash pad is one of the best Elk Grove has to offer and is open from May through September, perfect for those hot Sacramento days!
George Park
George Park is more often referred to as Dinosaur Park by Elk Grove families. The park has two separate play structures, a splash pad area, a large sandpit, and my favorite feature, a zip line. If your kid is a big dinosaur fan this park will have no shortage of cool features for them to explore.
Miwok Park
Miwok Park is one of Elk Grove’s older parks that made it on the list. But it’s hard to leave it out with this much character. The playground is situated in the middle of a larger park, with well established trees, offering lots of shade in those hot summer months. The structures are primarily wooden and the unique Native American inspired additions create a one of a kind playground.
Forewarning, this playground is equally as loved by the squirrels as it is the kids, so keep an eye out for furry critters during your play time.
Kammerer Park
Kammerer Park is the newest park on the list. The theme here is music, and it is carried out in both structure and play. If you’ve got a musically inspired kid, this will be a sure hit for them. The park offers a small and large play structure, restrooms, skate area, small splash pad, and tennis courts.
Kammerer is one of my favorites for the really little kids (think 2.5 years and under) as the small play structure offers a lot of interaction with very little parent assistance needed.
As I stated before, Elk Grove is exceptional when it comes to parks offered. And with over a hundred to choose from, it can be hard to narrow it down to the favorites.
