Where To Find Maternity Dresses For Your Session
Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful times in a woman's life. However, dressing for your pregnancy brings on a new set of challenges. It can be difficult dressing your new and ever-changing body. And with online shopping becoming the norm, many stores no longer carry maternity wear.
This is why I have created a list of some of my favorite places to purchase high quality, flowing, picture perfect dresses to wear to your next family portrait session.
This may come as a surprise to some, but Old Navy is great for maternity dress options. Their fabrics tend to be light, and stretchy (perfect for those hot Sacramento summers). They are incredibly affordable. And they offer a variety of basic colors, which will work well in adding to any color palette. Plus, did I mention stretchy?
2. Pink Blush
If you haven't yet experienced Pink Blush, let me introduce you. They are absolutely AMAZING for maternity wear. They carry a variety of long, flowing gowns, all at a rather reasonable price. I love their attention to details, the unique prints and fabrics. Pink Blush is great for the maternity session that maybe wants a little more pizzazz or glam.
3. Joyfolie
Joyfolie is a well loved brand amongst photographers. They offer absolutely stunning dresses for both women and children. While they do not have a specific maternity section on their website many of their dresses can be used for maternity due to their length and wrap style.
4. Baltic Born
Shhh, don't tell the others, but Baltic Born may be my favorite of the options I have listed. I have multiple pieces for my client closet. They are in the mid-price range (under the $200 mark). They offer so many beautiful and unique style options, from velvet, to lace, to sequin. They are easy and comfortable to wear for most. And yet they still exude an air of to luxury, that I just love.
If you are a glam girl, Reclamation is the way to go. These dresses are in the higher price category (upwards of $500). They are beautiful and handmade. Many of the dresses are one of a kind (or a few of a kind) pieces made from vintage lace. If you want your images to exhude luxury while still maintaining a boho feel, you need to check them out. But order early as shipping may take a bit.
